Literacy Skills Homework Monday 06th February 2012:
This week we will be practising a range of Literacy skills online. Click on the link below to find a page full of games and activities to explore.
Your homework is to play the following games:
Any 6 activities from the games on the page (3 on word and 3 on sentence level).
NOTE: just scroll down the page to find the game links.
Then, click on the link that says Key Stage 2 and play another 6 games of your choice from word or sentence level.
Please tell me (or your teacher) which ones you enjoyed most or found most useful in your homework book. You might even want to give them a mark out of 10 if you like (but don’t feel that you have to).
You may also play any of the other games too as extra challenges.
Happy Homework!
Mrs Phillips.
Our Literacy targets for Term 3 and 4 are:

|
** (Target 2)
I can use a variety of connectives to begin and join my sentences.
|
*** (Target 3)
I can start my sentences in different ways e.g. with an adverb.
|
Our Numeracy targets for Term 3 and 4 are:
|
* (Target 1)
I can find the sum of more than 2 1 digit numbers quickly (e.g. 2 3 + 5 = 10).
|
** (Target 2)
I can find the sum of a set of mixed numbers using my number facts (e.g. number bonds/number families)
|
*** (Target 3)
I can find the numbers to make a given total using £, cm and M (e.g. £0.23 & ? = £1.00)
|
We will be practising these targets regularly in class, maybe you could play some games with them at home too!
So, here is what we have in store for Term 3 in Year 4!
In Literacy, we will be putting our story telling hats on again and learning the story of Mr Fox and his Bag! We will be adapting and innovating our story to write our own chapter books set in an imaginary world. Later on, we will be journalists and look into newspaper articles as part of our non-fiction unit too.
In Maths, we are brushing up on our written calculation methods for all four number operations. We will also be continuing to practice our times table facts during Mental Maths Mondays! Further in Term 3, we will be looking at measurements and directions again too.
Our RE topic this term is Judaism, we will be exploring the rituals, beliefs and history of this religion.
PE this term is Table Tennis and Dance (this will happen on Mondays and Thursdays). We will need our complete PE kits for these lessons.
We are completing a very exciting DT project this term: creating our own Pop-Up books! Perhaps you have some you can bring in?
In Geography, we will be exploring our local area of Paulton and considering where we are in the world and the type of village that we live in. What do you know already?
In Science, we will be exploring the properties that make up solids, liquids and gases. We will learn how to classify items into these groups and investigate reversible and irreversible changes.
Music this term will focus on the 7 elements of music (specifically duration), we will be creating and composing our own soundscapes for our imaginary lands. Perhaps you can practice this at home (sorry mums and dads!).
In our circle time for PSHE we will be setting personal goals and considering why we are special.
ICT will involve us exploring writing for different audiences. This will mean that we are using lots of different software and ICT skills such as writing a thank you letter to Santa, designing an imaginary landscape, word processing a blurb and designing a poster.
Hope to see you on open door Fridays!
