Swim Team Make a SPLASH at the MSN Swimming Gala

On Thursday 4th December, our swim team took part in the annual large schools’ swimming gala at Wansdyke Leisure Centre. What began as nervous excitement soon turned into focused, enthusiastic performances in the pool. The team gave it their all, showing fantastic spirit and resilience as they supported one another and conquered their nerves.

The results reflected their hard work and determination. The girls’ relay team got us off to a flying start, and the boys’ freestyle relay team — River, Leo, Ethan and Jack — secured an impressive bronze. Harper powered through the water in the 25m Freestyle, while Olivia and River delivered excellent swims in the 25m Breaststroke. Minnie and Leo showed tremendous stamina in the demanding 50m Freestyle, and Alice L achieved a brilliant time in the 25m Backstroke, with Jack claiming the team’s only gold in the same event. Our sole Year 5 swimmer, Alice B, demonstrated great bravery and technical skill in the challenging 25m Butterfly, and Ethan used his strong dolphin kick to bring home another bronze. The team finished on a high with a final bronze in the Mixed Cannon Freestyle Relay, thanks to a superb combined effort from Olivia, Harper, Jack and Ethan.

Overall, out of 10 teams, our swimmers secured a very respectable 5th place, with St Vigors taking the overall win. A huge well done to all our fantastic swimmers, and a big thank you to everyone who came along to support and help with lifts.
