Paulton Juniors Shine in Plate Victory

Paulton Junior School Girls 3 - 0 St. Benedict’s

The Paulton Junior School girls put on a masterclass in teamwork and clinical finishing this week, securing a dominant 3-0 victory against St. Benedict’s in the Plate Competition. While the scoreline reflects a comfortable win, the match was a testament to the grit, spirit, and "never-say-die" attitude of the entire squad.

The headlines will undoubtedly belong to our modest star striker Harper-Rose, whose pace and skill were a constant thorn in the side of the St. Benedict’s defense. She opened the scoring with a breathtaking solo effort, weaving through a sea of defenders before coolly burying the ball into the bottom left corner.

Her second goal was a display of pure technical prowess, finding the back of the net from an impossibly tight angle. To cap off a truly memorable performance, she completed her hat-trick with a rare and spectacular ‘Olympico’—curling an in-swinging corner directly into the goal.

A Squad Built on Unity

While the goals came from the front, the victory was built on a foundation of collective effort and high energy. Between the posts, Maia was imperious and brave in her first-ever game in goal; her distribution and constant, enthusiastic communication kept the team focused throughout.

The midfield was dominated by two sets of "midfield mosquitos" who rotated off the bench to maintain an unrelenting tempo. Niya and Hannah both impressed in their debut matches—Niya with her robust tackling and long throw-ins, and Hannah with her intelligent support play at both ends of the pitch. Clara and Willow provided the drive, with Clara’s forward runs and Willow’s tireless chasing constantly putting Paulton on the front foot. Meanwhile, Ira dazzled with her dribbling skills, and Evelyn lived up to her reputation as a midfield dynamo, showcasing effervescent energy and tenacious tackling.

At the back, Tega and Angel formed an impenetrable wall. Tega balanced her defensive duties with dynamic, marauding runs forward, while Captain Angel led with composure, her constant encouragement ensuring the result was never in doubt.

Spirit of the Game

Credit must go to St. Benedict’s, who played with immense heart and never gave up despite the pressure. The match was played in a fantastic spirit by both sides, bolstered by a vocal home crowd whose energy gave the Paulton girls an extra boost when they needed it most.

With this level of teamwork and a clinical edge in front of goal, the big question remains: Who will Paulton face in the next round, and can these girls go all the way? Watch this space!
