Dance Umbrella 2026

Over the next two weeks, schools from across Bath and North East Somerset will come together to celebrate Dance—a subject that champions creativity, imagination, expression, and above all, inclusivity. It’s an event we proudly support year after year, and our pupils once again showed exactly why.

Why learn one style of dance when you can put together multiple techniques in one dance?  This year’s Dance Umbrella group consisted of year 6 and produced an incredible routine under the choreography of Mrs Squires, at the weekly after school dance club. On Monday 23rd March, they performed at The Forum in Bath in front of a full audience. They rehearsed earlier in the day and then opened the evening event- Dance Umbrella 2026! The PJS performers took inspiration from the UK’s most popular dance show – Strictly Come Dancing – and put together a show dance of their own! This included many Latin and ballroom steps (in and out of hold) that Craig, Motsi, Shirley and Anton critique on a weekly basis. The announcer introduced …“Dancing the American Smooth, Jive, Tango, Paso Doble, Salsa and many, many more are the Y6 children of Paulton Junior School!”
