What’s inside this month?

This issue focuses heavily on social media and gaming safety. We take a closer look at popular platforms like Instagram and Snapchat, specifically highlighting their 13+ age limits.

While these platforms are popular, these age restrictions are in place to protect younger children from data collection, inappropriate content, and the social pressures that come with features like "disappearing messages" and "streaks."

Other key topics include:

  • Gaming Safely: Tips for managing in-game chats and avoiding unexpected costs.

  • Cyber Security: Simple steps to protect your family’s accounts using strong passwords.

  • New Tools: Information on "Teen Accounts" and "Family Centres" designed to give parents more control.

Listen on the Go

We know life is busy! In addition to the PDF newsletter, we have included an Audio Overview. You can listen to the key highlights while on the school run, commuting, or at home.

The newsletter and audio file are both available to download via the links below. We encourage all parents to take a few minutes to explore these resources and continue having open conversations with their children about their digital lives.
