Year 6 Steps into the Real World at Life Skills Bristol!

This Friday, our Year 6 pupils had an incredible, hands-on day out at the Lifeskills Learning for Living Centre in Bristol!

Designed to look like a realistic safety village—complete with fully built houses, a high street, a railway station, a park, and even a mock court—the centre allowed our students to navigate everyday real-world challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

Throughout the visit, Year 6 took on interactive scenarios to develop vital safety and decision-making skills, including:

Emergency Response:

Learning how to assess risk, react in high-pressure situations, and make correct 999 emergency calls.

Home & Fire Safety:

Identifying common household hazards, understanding smoke alarms, and practising safe escape routes.

Road, Rail & Water Awareness:

Navigating busy roads safely, understanding railway safety rules, and recognising danger around open water.

Personal & Online Safety:

Understanding personal boundaries, recognising peer pressure, and staying safe when using digital devices.

First Aid Basics:

Learning simple, life-saving steps to help someone who is injured or unwell.

The children threw themselves into every scenario with enthusiasm, maturity, and fantastic teamwork. The volunteers and leaders at the centre were thoroughly impressed by their thoughtful questions and quick thinking. We are so proud of how our Year 6s represented the school today, taking a big step forward in becoming responsible, safety-conscious young citizens as they prepare for secondary school!
