ELSA

As part of our school ethos of nurturing all aspects of a child’s development we are very pleased to have three ELSAs at Paulton Junior School.  ELSAs are Emotional Literacy Support Assistants.  They are teaching assistants with many years experience who have also completed an additional training course and are supported by Educational Psychologists in their ELSA role.

Our ELSAs work with children to build their emotional development and help them cope with life’s challenges. The specially tailored sessions they prepare aim to tackle any problems children may be experiencing and to equip them with specific strategies for tackling those problems.

ELSA sessions may be individual or in a small group and will last between 6-12 weeks. They can help with social skills, loss & bereavement, self esteem, anxiety, emotional literacy, bullying, conflict, friendship issues, growth mindset and managing strong feelings such as anger.
